May 9 is a special date in the career of Vladimir Horowitz (1903-1989). That day in 1965, a pianist's memorable recital took place at Carnegie Hall in New York, which he returned to the stage after 12 years of absence. When and why did he decide to return to the stage? Harold C. Schonberg describes and quotes the account of Ivan Davis (1932 - 2018) - an outstanding pianist and Vladimir Horowitz’s student.

Ludwig van Beethoven drank coffee every day for breakfast, which he usually prepared in a special glass container for brewing coffee. Coffee was an essential element of his diet, and its preparation was very demanding (it resembled the oriental way of making coffee). He estimated always sixty beans to the cup and counted them out.

Apple pie, although invented by a French chef, is an extremely popular dessert in Poland. One of the Masters who loved apple pie was Krzysztof Penderecki (1933-2020).
